Create a Segmentation Strategy

List: Form Submissions — MQL segmentation with lifecycle + opt-out filters.

Segmentation trigger
Create a contact-based list named
Form Submissions
Marketing interactions
Form Submission
is any of: Website Form
Object information › Contact Properties
Lifecycle Stage
is any of: Marketing Qualified Lead
Object information › Contact Properties
Create Date
is after: 2/1/2025
Object information › Contact Properties
Opted out of email marketing information
is none of: Yes
+ include records where field is empty
End of segmentation criteria
Notes
The list can be named anything that helps identify what it is for.
If there are specific forms on the website for MQL and SQL, the MQL forms will be filtered here.
The form should already set the Lifecycle stage — this removes the contact if their Lifecycle changes.
Include Create Date so we can preview who will be on the list before turning the workflow on.
Add opt-out exclusions for any special Marketing Contact Properties.
Purpose
I built this list to isolate MQL contacts who submitted a website form, so downstream nurture and sales handoff workflows enroll from a clean, opt-in audience.
Why layered filters
I layer filters so each one removes a specific risk — wrong form source, lifecycle drift, historical noise, or opt-out — before the contact ever hits automation.
Downstream use
I use this list to feed MQL nurture, sales notification workflows, and MQL → SQL conversion reporting in HubSpot.
